Now that the big Xbox One reveal is over, it’s time to sort through the pieces.

1. The Name

I don’t get it. Xbox One might indicate that it’s the only “One” system you need to do everything, but it just doesn’t click for me. Now we have the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4. Something’s not right.

2. The Controller

The Xbox One controller looks, thankfully, a great deal like the Xbox 360 controller which is a fine piece of machinery. The buttons are still colored, though just the letters. The thumbsticks appear to have better grips, which is nice. And there’s rumble built directly into the triggers, which could be cool or annoying depending on how it’s implemented.

3. The Kinect

The Kinect 2.0 will be bundled with the Xbox One and both the system and the motion peripheral share a similar, modern boxy design. It looks very much like an “entertainment system.” Sleek and shiny, like it would fit nicely on a shelf. I have mixed feelings about the Kinect. Hopefully the second iteration will work better than the original Kinect, but I worry that many of the exclusives Microsoft is promising will be Kinect-based.

4. Blu-Ray and SmartGlass

The Xbox One will have a Blu-Ray player, and will operate “almost silently” according to Microsoft. SmartGlass will be more deeply integrated making second screens and mobile integration more of a reality this generation than last.

5. The Games

Not a lot of talk about games at the Xbox One announcement. As Paul Tassi notes in his live-analysis, it was a bit odd to give so much time to Activision’s Call of Duty: Ghosts title given that the title is a cross-platform game that we already know about. Lots of time was given to EA Sports as well.

6. The TV

Lots and lots of stuff about TV today. Basically the Xbox One is, in many ways, the box Bill Gates envisioned from the very beginning, a machine that’s not just about video games but also serves as a TV tuner (with voice controls!) and a serious entertainment hub. The question is whether this will be as big of a selling point as Microsoft is hoping.

7. The TV Show

Along these same lines, Microsoft is teaming up with Steven Spielberg to bring a live-action Halo TV series to life thanks to the success of Forward Unto Dawn. This isn’t really related to the Xbox One at all, but it was part of the announcement.

8. Xbox One System Specs

The Xbox One has 8GB of DDR3 RAM, a 500GB harddrive, and boasts 8 times the graphical performance of the Xbox 360. The AMD chip includes both the CPU and GPU on a single die. (So will the DRAM, audio processors and more.) Specs are still a bit fuzzy and we’ll likely learn more about how this will likely compare to the PS4 in coming hours and days.

9. The Stock

MSFT is trading down after the event, but not by much (down five cents or so in early afternoon trading.)

Perhaps more importantly, shares aren’t up following the announcement. I don’t get the sense that gamers are particularly excited about anything revealed today (not nearly enough games, and way too much TV) but this might mean that investors are similarly nonplussed. Not bad news, but not great news either.

10. The Price

No price and no launch date beyond later this year were announced. This might be contributing to the lack of movement in stock price. It also means we’ll have to take bets on who announces a price first Sony or Microsoft? It’s like a high-tech game of chicken.

Microsoft Reveals Xbox One Accessories:

Amidst the flurry of Xbox One news today, Microsoft has introduced a number of new accessories for its upcoming next-gen console, including a Play and Charge Kit, chat headset, a sound bar from Polk Audio, and new gaming headphones.

The Play and Charge Kit includes a new rechargeable lithium ion battery and power cable, allowing users to charge the controller during use — just like the Xbox 360 version, but now it's designed to work with the Xbox One controller's new, flat battery compartment. The chat headset is a more modern version of the one bundled in with the Xbox 360, but instead uses the proprietary new data port found on the Xbox One controller, which makes existing products incompatible.

Moving into the third-party market, Microsoft has listed hardware from Turtle Beach, Polk Audio, and Mad Catz. For headphone audio, Turtle Beach will offer the Ear Force XO Seven and the XO Four. Polk is also getting into the gaming audio market with the 4 Shot gaming headphones and N1 Sound Bar, which was designed to complement the Xbox One's industrial design.

Finally, Mad Catz will be bringing its popular Aracade FightStick Tournament Edition series to the console with a new and improved design.

Pricing and release information has not been confirmed.

Not really happy with the must be online, you can't remove the HDD and no backward compatibility. Hope something changes or I will not get one. And I've never missed a release.  Thanks for sharing.

I heard that you don't have to be on line to play the xbox-1,and the games are not lock so you can play on another xbox-1.
