There is no price listed on the e-shop as of yet, the release date is August 19, 2012 but I'll most likely buy it from the eshop instead of instore for the extra Nintendo coins.

yes payne, i was reading about this as my daughter had pointed it out to me..

The New Super Mario Bros. 2 game is the first game you can purchase in stores AND on the Nintendo eShop.

And the bonus coins are worth it. i will download it from the eShop too as i think that will be more convenient and a better price!

Usually Nintendo UK give 250 stars per new game registered. Must check into it and see what they're offering on this....hmmm, interesting. Thanks for bringing it to my attention, Payne, as the kids want this one with their new consoles.

I think in stores you can pre-order it for $39.99 - I can't see eshop being that expensive when you are not getting packaging or a cartridge.  I'm hoping it will be around $19.99 (or less), anything more than that doesn't seem a reasonable price for a download.

For those in the UK I'd buy the cartridge instead of downloading - GAME has it for preorder with a bonus for 29.99

Info on GAME's site can be found here

New Super Mario Bros. 2 Available Now In Nintendo eShop

New Super Mario Bros. 2 is now available for download from the Nintendo 3DS eShop. The download costs $39.99, which is the same price as a physical copy of the game. If you purchase the downloadable version by September 20th and your Nintendo 3DS is linked to your Club Nintendo account, you’ll receive 100 coins. Will you download New Super Mario Bros. 2 or purchase the physical copy alongside a new Nintendo 3DS XL?

Not sure about anyone else in North America but since the download content is the same price as the card I'm saying bugger the double points and buying the card - far better value in my opinion.
